About Me

Well hello there! Just like the blog title says, I’m all about dirt and desserts (preferably not together, but in my life they sometimes mix)! I’m a 20 something student residing in the Midwest and starting the long journey of graduate school. I’m working towards gaining my PhD in Anthropology, specifically Archaeology – hence the dirt.

In the past year, I’ve steadily become more and more obsessed with food. I’ve always adored delicious foods (my family laughs when I proclaim “I wanna’ eat” and respond with “You’re always hungry!”) What can I say? A girl’s gotta’ eat and if you’re going to eat, might as well make it a scrumptious meal. However, the past year is when I really started to get into baking.

This blog will hopefully keep me from going absolutely crazy in grad school. No surprise to anyone that getting your PhD can come with a little stress. But I’m hoping the occasional cupcake and delicious meal can help alleviate some of that. I post about baking, cooking, crafts, books, and sometimes my personal life. Enjoy!

  1. Awesome start to your blog. I am laughing out loud that the terrarium made the initial debut. And the banana bread looks absolutely scrumptious. When my bananas in the blue bowl turn to mush I just might give it a try.
    Love ya! Your momma

    • Ha! Glad you like that the terrarium was front and center. What can I say? I really do love it! And I hardly wait for my bananas to turn to mush. I always squish them with a fork because I want delicious, sugary bread!

Tell me what's on your mind!
