Yum… bread. And cheese. My two favorite things smooshed together. This french bread pizza is the absolute easiest thing. I made it over the summer when I realized I had a pack of pizza sauce, but wasn’t really feeling like normal pizza. Kyle and I loved it (I judge how much Kyle likes something by how much he eats – he ate almost a whole half). I have a Halloween potluck coming up and I’m debating between bringing something like this or cupcakes…
I’m alive! I’m alive! Yes, if you can believe it – I’m still cooking! I’ve been living with my boyfriend Kyle this summer and we don’t have internet at his place (we’re cheap and we decided it would force us to read more). So, blogging and other internet things have gone downhill!
Summer has been going lovely, but I don’t understand how it’s already August. It’s gone too quickly! Although when Iook back, I do realize I’ve done a ton (see https://dirtanddesserts.wordpress.com/2013/06/23/summer-update/ for a reminder). This week was fairly relaxed, going out with friends, working, studying Spanish, and reading in free time. I went home recently and my mom gave me some fresh produce from her garden, which included tomatoes and basil. Inspired by the simplicity of fresh produce, Kyle and I made an easy pizza. (Plus – I had been missing Italy, so this was almost as good!)
Do you know what I’m not doing tonight? Work. I’m done. I had a long day – work at my lab from 9-2, class from 2:30-4, meeting from 4-5, osteology lab from 5-6, and grocery shopping from 6-7. I’m tired of working. I’m laying in bed, blogging. And no one will stop me. (I may even eat some chocolate kisses – getting wild over here!)
I’m awake early. Earlier than I’m usually awake on the weekends. I adore sleep. I wish I could be one of those people who thinks “you can sleep when you’re dead!” and fight to stay awake each moment. But… I’m not. I love snuggling up in my blanket and reading a good book until I pass out. I actually just finished my “for fun” book (which I only allow myself to read before bed) and I wasn’t too impressed. May write a post about it once I collect my thoughts, or you may have to live in suspense forever.
Anyway. Bread. Yes, we were talking about bread, weren’t we? Whenever people ask me, “if you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you pick?” I usually answer bread. or cheese. or créme brûlée. Bread is perfect in its simplest form (no.. not white sliced bread from the grocery store) or more complex. My ma made this while I was home over break and I probably ate half of the loaf. The recipe is incredibly easy (for some reason, having to let bread rise intimidates me) and doesn’t require any special supplies. If you’re a new bread maker and are slightly intimidated (like me) you should give it a try. Continue reading
I love cheese. I love bread. I love garlic. What could go wrong? Nothing. I’ve had my eye on this recipe for awhile, thanks to pinterest and I decided to make it one afternoon after my family visited. My mom is always so sweet and leaves me with tons of delicious food to eat each time she visits. When she and my Aunt Kathy stopped by and left a loaf of yummy looking bread, I decided to give this a try. Continue reading
